With all the hype surrounding generative AI, ChatGPT, and large language models what does it mean in terms of recruitment? At the recent M365 Community Days conference, a Microsoft executive spoke of a new category of IT professional called a prompt engineer. Part technologist and part linguistics expert, prompt engineers train AI systems by refining text inquiries to attain optimal responses. They spend their working lives talking with AI systems. Movies classics like “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Her” come to mind.

Did you know? Job stats released on August 4 showed the U.S. economy added 187,000 jobs in July. The United States has seen 30 consecutive months of job growth and unemployment remains low at 3.5%. And employment in financial activities increased by 19,000 in July, up from 16,000 per month in Q2 with gains in insurance and real estate services. Professional services including computer systems design and technical consulting also saw an uptick.
